I believe books (and kids!) have the power to change the world. As a social worker, I worked with children whose lives were affected by violence (and other inequities) and oversaw several youth-led violence prevention initiatives. I want to write picture books that help kids deal with tough issues (like grief, loss, oppression, violence) in a meaningful way. I believe kids are agentic, brilliant, and resilient, which are themes I explore in the picture books I write.

In 2022, I was selected for the “We Need Diverse Books” mentorship program. Read more about it here: AU Professor Goes Back to School for MFA in Creative Writing.

I am currently querying agents with my completed picture book manuscript on the power of nature when navigating grief and loss.
